At Midfield, we work with design engineers to alleviate foundry concerns. We offer changes that can lower tooling cost and also the price of castings.
Reverse Engineering
Whether you're a foundry engineer that has lost a pattern or corebox, or a design engineer that needs a 3D CAD model off an existing part, Midfield can help solve your problem.
For design engineers, we use our Brown & Sharpe CMM to digitize existing parts and provide you with a 3D CAD model. (This works great for developing complex curved surfaces, where it's hard to create geometry from a "fixed" point!) For foundry engineers, we've replaced worn coreprints with new iron coreprints on aluminum matchplates. We've CNC duplicated additional impressions for patterns. We've even made new CNC pattern tooling from an existing casting - no blueprint was available!
